Walking and Cycling

The Ribble Valley, Pendle Country and the forest of Bowland are ideal for walking and cycling with loads of choice whatever type of walk you want we have it from upland hikes to gentle strolls and with our abundant wildlife you are guaranteed to see something interesting.

Sightseeing

Clitheroe is our nearest town a traditional market town with plenty of shops including an award winning sausage shop. The towns most important feature is the 12th Century Norman keep set on an outcrop of limestone rock which has spectacular views from the ramparts. There is also a museum and gardens plus riverside walks.

There are many other picturesque villages with ancient churches postcard views, and fine country pubs.

Pendle Hill, famous for its connection with witches. There is a "Witches Trail" that follows their story.

Other places to see are Skipton with its famous market and canal cruises. For railway buffs there are the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway and the Keighley & Worth Valley Steam Railway plus the Settle to Carlisle Railway. There are Geology trails and many visitor centres, you will never be stuck for someting to do, or you could just sit back and relax.

Fishing

Roughlee Trout Fishery

A delightful spring and river fed Fly Fishery. 2.5 acre lake open (all year from 8am until dusk. Stocked with Rainbow and Blue Trout to double figures. Native Brown Trout (which must be returned) are also present. Fishing is from bank only. Roughlee Trout Fishery actively encourages junior and anglers new to Fly Fishing.

Stocks Fly Fishery

Stocks Reservoir is the largest fishery in the North West of England. It was created in the early 1930s by flooding the village of Dale Head and adjacent farmland to provide drinking water for the Fylde. Situated at the head of the Hodder Valley in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Stocks has a wild and unspoiled quality, the perfect place for a days fly fishing.

Full and half day bank and boat fishing tickets available. Tuition and guide service available.
