The towns most important feature is the 12th Century Norman keep set on an outcrop of limestone rock which has spectacular views from the ramparts. There is also a museum and gardens plus riverside walks. There are many other picturesque villages with ancient churches postcard views, and fine country pubs. Pendle Hill, famous for its connection with witches. There is a "Witches Trail" that follows their story. Other places to see are Skipton with its famous market and canal cruises. For railway buffs there are the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway and the Keighley & Worth Valley Steam Railway plus the Settle to Carlisle Railway. There are Geology trails and many visitor centres, you will never be stuck for someting to do, or you could just sit back and relax. Details of many more places to visit are kept in the cottage.
